Disney!

We just returned from your first trip to Disney World! I'll post some pics shortly. You had a blast - I only wish you'd napped better while we were there. :) I'm already looking forward to our next visit in the future! :)

Some cute stuff

This past weekend I noticed you are using sign language to tell me you want "more" of something. I'm glad I had some notion of what the sign looked like. At first you did it silently but over the course of the weekend you started actually saying "More" as well - although it's more like "Mo". :)

You also did something super cute. We watched a show about snakes on Saturday morning so I made my hand into the shape of a snake head and made a hissing noise and then the 'strike' was to tickle you. You loved it. On Sunday when I was changing your diaper you put your hand up in the air and said "Sssssss" like the snake - you wanted a tickle!!!

And last night as we were reading your colors book, you said "purple" for the first time. It was something like "bu ble" but I understood you. :)

You're walking!

You took your first independent steps on Sunday, October 23rd, 2011. You were holding onto the back of your Jeep and decided to walk about 5 steps to me. I cried, of course. You sure do know how to melt my heart! Tonight (Tuesday the 25th) you were walking all over the room so I grabbed my camera and Daddy hovered behind you in case you fell. :) You did GREAT! 2 days of walking and you're almost a pro!!

Another milestone moment

This one is totally on me, but I felt that it needed to be written down. Tomorrow morning, you'll get your very last cup of formula. I've decided to not give you anymore - you'll just get milk from now on. You've been getting it this long because I wanted you to have something more than milk until your adjusted age of 12 months arrived. You've passed that now, so I was just using up what was left in the house. My little boy is truly a baby no more. :(

Update

It's September 30th. You were sick last week with croup. We had the joy of giving you a lot of Tylenol and steroids for 5 days. You had a fever for a bit but are better now - you are still coughing, but you're getting there. Poor baby. You have been saying 'Kiggy" for the cat. I've caught you saying "bye" a few times, and of course - "Daddy". I've only heard "Mommy" a handful of times. I took a family photo into school and I was told that you saw it on the wall, sat down, reached up to it and cried. :( Miss Erin said it was heartbreaking and adorable all at the same time. Tonight Grandma Leman came up to watch you so we could go out to dinner. She said you were very good. I'm glad to hear it. I can't wait to get up with you tomorrow. We're going to try to go to an Apple Festival tomorrow - they're going to have pony rides! I'm sure you'll love that! :) I'll be sure to take pics! Sleep tight!

Silverware

All of a sudden, you want to use silverware. I use it to feed you, of course, but you usually resort to your fingers. This weekend, you wanted spoons and held them through the whole meal (whether you used them or not). :) Daddy is trying to show you how to use your fork as its much easier to spear things than to try to scoop them up. You're getting there. I find it so amazing that you see what we do and want to do the same things. You learn by watching, that's for sure. Makes me want to be a better person - knowing you're learning from me! You are so wonderful - you ate a ton at dinner tonight (filet mignon so I'm happy you liked it!) and you practically begged me to put you to bed - I wonder how many kids your age do that?? I took you up and read you two books and then you reached for the crib and arched your back - your way of saying "Lay me down Mom!" You lay down and don't make a peep. You watch your mobile spin around until you fall asleep - every night. My perfect angel. I hope you dream of forks and spoons and daddy showing you how to use them. I love you!

Toddler Room!

Oh please ignore the lady in blue - but if I put you down, you cry, so I decided to take the pic with me in it. :) August 30th was your first official day in the toddler room! You've been transitioning into the room for about a month now. You're doing great! You're eating better and you're napping much better - I'm so happy! It's been so helpful for you to be able to be with the bigger kids and especially to nap when all the kids nap! You're so nosy that you didn't nap well in the infant room - so I'm thrilled you're getting a 2 hour nap every day. We're heading to the shore tomorrow! WOO HOO! Todd family vacation! :)

Irene Aftermath

All is well. You slept through the hurricane and we sustained no damage. Mommy about had a panic attack a few times, but you were blissfully oblivious. We otherwise, had a terrific weekend. You were full of giggles and attempts to talk. You even took your first attempt at walking - you stepped away from my laundry basket towards me, but you fell. :( I hope it doesn't deter you from trying again soon. Tomorrow is your first official day in the Todder room! I'll take pics! :) You're getting SO BIG!

Irene

Hurricane Irene is coming. Sounds like it's going to be a nasty storm. Daddy and I have the house as ready as it can be. You are napping peacefully upstairs. It's supposed to hit hard around 2 AM so we'll see how bad it really is once it gets here. Hopefully it'll just be a rainy day and nothing more. I'll be sure to post again tomorrow as long as we have internet. :)

Fussy night

Tonight you and I went down the street to Chris Martin's house for dinner. You were rammy and fussy the entire time. Very unlike you. I think that being in the strange house around strangers perhaps put you over the edge of tired. :( Poor baby. I brought you home and took you to bed. You fell immediately to sleep. :( I feel so bad! How did you get so tired? Hopefully you'll rest well tonight and wake happy and refreshed tomorrow. Sleep tight my love.

Today your daycare paper said that you like to ride the toy cars at school, backwards. I guess it's easier for you to push yourself backwards than it is to pull yourself forward. :) It also said that you all found a box turtle out in the yard today but you were all afraid of it! That made me laugh. When I got you home we sat and played. You only wanted your book and I took a picture of you reading it. I love you...my little darling.

14 Months

Today you are 14 months old (12.5 Adjusted). It's raining like crazy today so we've been playing inside. Daddy put you in your toy jeep and ran around the basement with you. You loved it, as you can see. You're starting to make sounds similar to the words "Uh Oh" each time I say it to you so I think your next words will be "Uh Oh!" :)

Voyeur

This morning, Daddy was mowing the lawn and you wanted to watch. I put your step stool under the window and you were JUST tall enough to see out the window. You squealed with joy every time Daddy came by the window. My clever little guy!

First Haircut

Yesterday we went for your first haircut. Grandma went with us to help by taking pictures while I held you. You did SO well! You look like a little man now! When I got you home last night you had a little fever so to bed you went. Hopefully this morning you'll wake feeling much better. Mom and Dad are going to take you to the park today for a little while. I'll post more pictures later today. :)

Inspired by my friend Kim who has been documenting her daughter's life in a blog, I'm attempting to start one for Jaxon. I'm a year behind as he's now 14 months old, but better late than never. I've failed miserably in keeping a journal for him, so hopefully this online environment will help me stay up to date. Wish me luck!
